7/30/2005 - Eminent Domain Case Handled by M & M Makes the Front Page of the NY Times.
We represent the Lau family in an eminent domain case that lately has been a top story across the nation. The case was discussed in a front-page story that appeared in the New York Times on July 30, 2005. This is an exciting case that raises fundamental questions about when a government agency may condemn and take a private owner's land in order to sell it to another private owner so that the land may be devoted to a better and higher use that indirectly confers a benefit on the public at large. This case has attained national prominence in the immediate aftermath of the surprising Kelo ruling by the US Supreme Court. The case has also received attention from a number of other news organizations, including, most recently, CBS and PBS as well as the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
