He holds an American law degree from the American University's Washington College of Law and a Mexican law degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, a world-class university whose law school ranks among the best in Mexico.

Equally fluent in English and Spanish, Mr. Maldonado is trained and licensed to practice law in both the United States and Mexico. Mr. Maldonado primarily focuses on business and real estate transactions that are governed by U.S. law, Mexican law or the laws of both countries at the same time. He is uniquely well-qualified to help U.S. clients and others to purchase land, make direct investments, acquire business interests, and engage in commerce in Mexico. He is able to grasp the different issues and problems that can arise in such transactions, addressing them skillfully and protecting his clients so that they can avoid unforeseen complications while enjoying the full protections and benefits offered by Mexican law.

More particularly, Mr. Maldonado regularly helps clients to establish and expand their businesses on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, and he often assists his U.S. clients in the purchase, development, and financing of real estate in Mexico, in the direct foreign investment in established Mexican businesses, and in structuring and operating new business ventures in Mexico. He also assists his Mexican clients in the establishment of new business ventures in California.

In addition, Mr. Maldonado has many times served as an expert on Mexican law in U.S. court proceedings, and he has served as an expert advisor on Mexican law to the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County. He has also authored many expert opinions on Mexican law for U.S. litigants.

Mr. Maldonado is also proficient in the immigration and nationality laws of the United States and Mexico, and he can comprehensively address all immigration concerns that a client might have on either side of the border. Under his direct supervision, the firm handles visa and entry applications of every description for both countries, and he personally handles complex business immigration matters that require his expert attention. He has succesfully obtained many U.S. investor (E-2), treaty trader (E-1) and executive of a multi-national business (L-1A) visas for his non-U.S. clients that form or purchase businesses in the United States and executive employee FM-3 visas for his non-Mexican clients that establish businesses in Mexico.

Mr. Maldonado was voted by fellow attorneys in San Diego as a semi-finalist for the San Diego Daily Transcript's San Diego Top Attorney in the category of Business Transactions for 2006. He has authored several articles on both Mexican and U.S. law and has been a speaker at seminars and continuing legal education events held by the San Diego County Bar Association, the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, the Colegio de Abogados Consitucionalistas of Tijuana, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and by the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. He has received the highest possible professional rating, a "10.0 Superb", in the attorney rating website avvo.com, and he is listed in the 2007 edition of Marquis' Who's Who in American Law.

He maintains an extensive network of professional contacts in both the United States and Mexico, particularly in Southern California as well as the following locales in Mexico: Tijuana, Hermosillo, Los Cabos, Cancun, and Mexico City (D.F.). Thus he can readily assist clients in matters and transactions throughout Mexico, Southern California, and elsewhere in the United States.
